The world’s biggest Royal Enfield enthusiast event, the Rider Mania ‘Motoverse’, took place at the beachside state of Goa in India on November 24, 25 & 26 of 2023. Spanning a huge outdoor space the event included dirt races, an impressive custom motorcycle exhibition, test rides, displays featuring current and new models, a shopping area, cinema, live interviews, and 3 music stages. To top it all off at the end of Day 1 of Motoverse, Royal Enfield Managing Director Siddhartha Lal took to the stage to reveal a very special model release.
This motorcycle is yet another new addition to Enfield’s rapidly expanding modern retro range which has seen the Enfield brand rise to all-new heights. Based on the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, which is set to go on sale in the coming weeks, this special edition model is aptly named the Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition.
Taking center stage on the festival’s huge Motosonic stage Sid revealed the model to an enthusiastic crowd of thousands of Royal Enfield supporters. His announcement began with a neo-noir sci-fi-styled CG film of the Shotgun 650 racing its way through a Bladerunner-esque world. The film ended with an animated version of the GM sitting on the new model with the words “Inspired by Custom for Custom” lighting up the sky. After the film finished the Motoverse edition of the Shotgun 650 was rolled onto the stage sparking an eruption of cheering and applause from the crowd.
Standing alongside the special edition model Sid described the Shotgun 650 as a genre-defying motorcycle by blending elements from classic roadsters, Bobbers, and other custom styles. He described the new bike as a triumph of design and engineering noting the hard work of his company’s development team. He then went on to point out the unique paintwork of the motorcycle beside him which was influenced by the SG650 concept that Royal Enfield unveiled at EICMA in 2021. Then the shock announcement came that the bike was 1 of only 25 examples that would be offered exclusively to attendees of the Motoverse 2023 festival.
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition is slated to become an instant collector’s item being produced in such limited numbers and only available to Motoverse showgoers. The model’s standout feature is the neo-noir handpainted bodywork which is a mix of black and turquoise with neon yellow accents and emblems. The Motoverse edition also comes with a blacked-out engine with polished Royal Enfield castings on the gloss black cases. There’s also a blacked-out 2-into-2 peashooter exhaust a floating Bobber-style seat and a black headlight nacelle which was also inspired by the SG650 concept. Further adding to the Motoverse Editions’ unique look are a few genuine accessories in the form of bar end mirrors and LED turn signals.
As for the rest of the bike, this model is identical in specification to the upcoming Shotgun 650. Powered by Enfield’s lauded 650cc parallel twin engine, it will likely produce around 47 hp, 52 Nm of torque. The wheels are 10-spoke cast items and the bike comes standard with ABS, USD forks, and twin rear shocks. The price is set at ₹4.25 lakh (around $5,100 USD) but I’m sorry to say that all 25 examples have most likely already been sold.
